Abstract: Veering triangulations, introduced by Agol [2010], give a combinatorial framework for understanding pseudo-Anosov flows (without perfect fits) on three-manifolds. After giving the definitions, I will discuss some of our computational work on veering triangulations. In particular, we have produced the census of all transverse veering triangulations with up to 16 tetrahedra, for a total of 87047 veering structures. The census can be found here: https://math.okstate.edu/people/segerman/veering.html. This is joint work with Henry Segerman, and is also based on work of Andreas Giannopoulos.
