„How long are shortest closed geodesics on the two-sphere?“
Prof. Dr. Alberto Abbondandolo, Ruhr-Universität Bochum

Classical systolic geometry asks for upper bounds on the length of shortest non-contractible loops on closed Riemannian manifolds with given volume. Similar questions can be formulated for simply connected manifolds, like the two-sphere, by replacing shortest non-contractible loops by shortest closed geodesics. I will discuss how some methods from Hamiltonian dynamics can be used in order to get sharp inequalities in this and in more general settings.
