Let G be a group acting by automorphisms on a finite dimensional CAT(0) cube complex. We define the median class of the action in the second bounded cohomology of G with geometrically defined coefficients and prove that it does not vanish if the action is not elementary. We apply this result to establish a superrigidity result.
